When people try to memorize scripture, there’s a pretty standard bag of tricks that never works. You put a post-it on your dashboard, you write it on your bathroom mirror, etc. Or maybe you’ve tried something more quizzing yourself with flashcards or fill-in-the-blanks.
Few of these techniques really expose you to the original text for any amount of time. How are you supposed to learn it if you never read it?
HOW WE MAKE IT EASIER
We believe that the best way to memorize something is to HEAR it over and over.
Why? Because hearing it means you dont have to actively read it. Instead you listen and soak it in - paying attention whenever you can. Now you can be memorizing while you drive or while you work.
Furthermore, when you hear the text spoken with your tone, inflection, and rhythm it will be especially natural for you to listen and SPEAK/THINK ALONG. When you start to memorize portions of it, bump the skill level up to “EASY”. This will periodically fade the audio out for a small amount of time, leaving you a chance to really test your ability. No worries if you get it wrong, the audio will fade back in and your learning continues.
LEARN A CHAPTER, NOT A VERSE
We really encourage people to stretch themselves to learn scripture in chapters instead of verses. This may seem impossible, but think about this... how many songs do you know word for word? Of course a song is more fun to listen to, but it demonstrates the power of hearing something over and over again.

Memorize Anything app good for
I use this to record my presentations into, then listen back - the random fading out is great practice for last minute jitters. It is very easy to use and extremely flexible. I can record different sections of my presentation, move them around on the playlist or delete them very easily.
What I like the most is that I dont have to rewind. It keeps on going and going and going until you stop it.
Very good study aid, easy to use and playback. Definitely a must for med school! Or any high impact studying.
I found this very useful for memorizing yoga Sanskrit chants, especially using the loop feature. I would like to be able to record from the original source on I-tunes however rather than relying on my own voice for the correct pronunciations.
The app is easy to use, to record and delete recordings and works well.
I love this app because its the only one Ive found that allows you to memorize literally anything while driving! Most other apps are totally designed to be looked at constantly. I get half an hour of memorizing in on my drive to and from work! This app is EXACTLY what I was looking for!
Some bad moments
worst app ever. I recorded a load of important things and at the end I couldnt play them!
It is a great app, but after upgrade to IOS 5 it keeps crashing.
I downloaded this app but it never run. Nothing shows up when you click the app. It is very disappointing !
Cannot change the name of the recording and cannot add text or picture with it on the iPad.
I love this app, but the last update makes it much harder to use: more difficult to delete recordings, the audio is TERRIBLE now, and no way to quickly get rid off recordings if you made a mistake; you must name it first, then save it, THEN you can delete it. I am using an iPod touch running iOS 6, so please fix these problems. I want to love this app again.
Not compatible with iPhone 4 and iOS 7, audio does not play back.
